Free Grants for Firewood Helping Single Mothers, Widows and Elderly

Free Firewood Grant

As anyone that has been self-employed in their life knows that it comes with a blessing and a curse. The blessing being the possibility of having more money and more time to do other things. The curse of almost any business owner (especially in the beginning) is being a slave to your business and having little money and no time!

The goal of every entrepreneur is to get to the blessing stage of their growing business! I have enjoyed this experience of building a company from the ground up and everything that entailed. The best part of my business has always been meeting new people who then normally turned into customers. Another great part of owning a Tree Service in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington is the fact that it’s somewhat seasonal normally working from April through October, almost none stop, and then having most of the winter off.

Owning Northern Lakes Tree Service has afforded my family and I the finances and time to be able to help people not just here in the U.S.,

  • like our half way house for teens in Coeur d’Alene way back in 1999, but in other countries as well. Starting in 2000 ending in 2004 at which time during the winter months we would go to Mexico and Belize Central America to help in the building of community centers and doing food and clothing distribution.
  • In the spring of 2005 was the first in many trips to “Haiti” that small island country that was devastated with the 2010 earthquake. We were able to set up teams from Seattle Washington, The Midwest, Arizona, Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington to join with us in aiding the Haitian people.
  • My wife really has a heart for children and so for the last three years at Christmas time we have been able to buy hundreds of outfits for children in a small fishing village in the Philippines.
  • The main reason my family and I have been able to experience all these things is the fact that I have been blessed enough, at a very early age, to be self-employed. I have had the money and the time to help those in need.

Our Firewood Grant

As you can see we love to take care of people whatever their need, not just abroad but here in our own backyard (Priest Lake).Damon & Nerissa Bretthauer Giving Back to Northern Idaho (Priest Lake) . One way we are caring for other people’s needs is to give away our surplus of firewood to people who can’t afford or not physically able to get it on their own. This includes single mothers, widows , and the elderly. If you or anybody that you know around the Priest Lake area is in need of mixed firewood, and are not able to afford it, Northern Lakes Tree Service will gladly deliver it free of charge starting in May and ending in October. This fire wood comes directly off are jobs site’s so it’s (still green) and may need some time to season (to dry out) in other words it might not be good for this winter if you receive it late in the fall.

The fire wood comes anywhere from 14 inches to 18 inches because of the way that the tree is cut down we normally climb, limb, and top so almost every block of wood is cut a little bit different . If you are in need of firewood please contact Damon Bretthauer at Northern Lakes Tree Service to set up a delivery for the spring and summer months ahead.

We want to thank the www.grantsguys.com for inspiring use and covering our story.

About Author: Damon Bretthauer
The beginning of Northern Lakes Tree Service all started back in 1993 when I decided that I wanted to work for myself and be outdoors. With a couple of husky chainsaw’s and well used climbing gear I managed to scrape together, along with my old 1956 Ford two ton truck that wasn’t very pretty but got the job done, I began doing tree service around the area. This is when we learned the art of “Low Impact Tree Removal.” Simply put, it’s how to work around and at the same time Protect Landscaping, Lawns ,Driveways and Walkways and every other obstacle in or around a yard without damaging anything. Because as you know people work hard on their lawns and landscaping and don’t want to see it carelessly damaged or destroyed when tree service is being done.

  • I am the lead editor of GrantsGuys.com we don’t always feature local companies but sometimes we find people doing good things and we like to share that with the world. Something as simple as firewood could be very challenging for an elderly person. Keep up the great work what goes around comes around. Who knows one day you may even own your own island in the Philippines!

  • Hey Damon
I just read the “Free Wood Grants” on your website. I know in the next couple weeks or so you will be taking down those 4 hazard trees the Forest Served “blessed” for removal. I am so glad that they can be used to help some folks that need the fuel for whatever the reason. Good for you and your beautiful wife for your good works.
